Currents, Fixed in Motion
Can we build substitute experiences for the environment? In our current age of the Anthropocene, ecosystems are collapsing, city’s are increasing in population and the accessibility of genuine nature is diminishing. Currents Fixed In Motion is an investigation into potential futures for simulated experiences of nature which may exist safely within detrimental cityscapes. Constructed of industrial materials, the installation has reduced the behaviour of water to its core mechanical movements. Perception becomes the main catalyst for the work. Is this a utopian solution or a resignation? How will our future cities shift in response to climate change?
